What is the typical application-to-drop-off timeline?

Casting windows usually open 9–14 months before a season films. Expect: initial email review (2–6 weeks), phone/video interviews (1–2 months), semifinalist call-backs and reference checks (1–2 months), an in-person survival boot camp and medical/psych screening (1–2 months), then final selection roughly 3–5 months before drop-off. Plan for at least a year from application to potentially being on location.

You bring your own approved gear selected from the show's official item list (currently 10 items from a fixed catalog, plus required safety and clothing items provided or approved by production). Choices are locked in before drop-off. Study every prior season's loadouts and test each item in conditions similar to the filming region before you finalize your ten.
